Support Groups & WORKSHOPS

Support groups and workshops intentionally incorporate expressive movement, images, metaphors, music, sand play, and creative writing to promote personal growth and emotional healing.  Support groups and workshops are structured to foster self-awareness, self-improvement, and self-care.

“Many survivors adjust to cancer and its associated treatments, but a subgroup struggles with emotional adjustment in the survivorship period” (Yi & Syrjala, 2017). The purpose of this workshop is to support women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer to discover how to improve their quality of life in dealing with both the physical and psychological side effects of living with and recovering from breast cancer through the use of action methods techniques.

Crossing Bridges

Positively Pink: Embracing wonder, creativity, and health

Crossing bridges is a powerful metaphor that can be used to illustrate the journey toward mental health wellness. The idea is that each person has their own unique set of bridges to cross, which represent the challenges and obstacles they must overcome in order to achieve a state of emotional balance and stability.  Drama Therapy can help you can successfully navigate each bridge and come out the other side stronger and more resilient.

Express It!

“Sometimes reality is too complex. Stories give it form." --Jean Luc Godard. Through the enjoyable behavior of making images and imitations, participants will explore and tell their stories. This workshop invites participants to engage in vignettes using action exploration to foster creativity and promote self-exploration, catharsis, witnessing, and personal growth.

Getting Started

My facilitating services are offered virtually through Zoom teleconferencing,

  • Connecting from a safe and quiet space without distractions is crucial for your ability to be focused and also for the confidentiality of the group.
  • If other people need to be present in the room, use a headset – so they will hear you speaking, but not what the others are saying.
  • If you will be using a desktop computer, you will need a separate web camera. You DO NOT need anything additional if you will be using a modern laptop, iPod, or a smartphone, as those devices have built-in cameras and microphones. The best way to participate is through your computer.
  • Your rooms should have indirect lighting as much as possible, with good coverage to show faces well.
  • Configuring Audio: If you are having issues hearing or having others hear you, select 'audio options' and 'test computer Mic & Speaker'.
  • Configuring Video: For 'video', select the up arrow and video settings to check the camera selected.
